The Cocoa Police Department has closed State Road 524 east of Cox Road due to a brush fire in the vicinity of Pinyon Drive.

**UPDATE**BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Officials report the brush fire at SR 524 in Cocoa is under control. Cocoa Police say SR 524 is still closed between Cox Road and Lance due to smoke and visibility issues in the area.

Crews will be in the area for a while monitoring hot spots and watching for flare ups, according to a spokesperson with the Cocoa Police Department.
