BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Southeast Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Fire Management Division reports that firefighters are working a 500-plus acre wildfire at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday night.

Part of State Road 3 is closed, according to the Brevard County Emergency Management Office.
