Melbourne Police Respond To Social Media Threat of Shooting At Palm Bay High School

The Melbourne police obtained information on Friday morning about a social media threat that indicated there would be some type of shooting at Palm Bay High School during the lunch time hour.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Melbourne police obtained information on Friday morning about a social media threat that indicated there would be some type of shooting at Palm Bay High School during the lunch time hour.

“Melbourne Police Officers flooded the school during the morning and lunch time to provide an added layer of safety and to address any type of threat,” said Melbourne Police Commander Sean Riordan.

“As a result of the threat, several parents responded to the school to check out their son or daughter.”

According to Commander Riordan, at this time there is no threat and the incident is still under investigation as the police have been working closely with the school board to ensure future incidents of this type are managed in the safest manner possible.
