BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Two meerkat pups have started coming out of their burrows at Brevard Zoo.

They were born to mother Kiki on February 17 and spent the first few weeks of life underground.

The sexes are unknown at this time.

Meerkats are highly social animals.

Some members of the mob may act as “babysitters” to the pups.

They are native to the deserts of southern Africa.
