BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire and Police personnel are battling multiple brush fires in the southwest section of the City.

Strong winds have been shifting the fire in the area of Day Avenue and O’Connell Avenue.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Melbourne, and is in effect for all of east central Florida this weekend.

A very dry airmass remains over central Florida and will produce low relative humidity for much of the day. This will result in a high fire danger across the area.

Winds will shift to the east by Sunday, which will help push a small to moderate long period swell into the east Florida coast.

This will continue to enhance the rip current threat along area beaches. Winds will freshen out of the east on Monday, which will produce marginal to poor boating conditions.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now….or will shortly. A combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
