MERCER, NEW JERSEY – After a short weekend up north, the women’s rowing team powered its way to a first place finish in the V8.

“I’m very proud of the effort and resilience of this fairly young crew, between the weather and the constant schedule changes this weekend” head coach Adam Thorstad said.

“The pair is continuing to improve on the season and did a great job advancing to the Petite Final. The four had a strong showing, winning their heat and turning around in a short window to finish ahead of DII competition, and fourth overall. The eight executed their strategy for the Heat very well. Then went out and had a strong showing winning their final”.

On Saturday, Florida Tech’s Varsity Pair was the only race of the day, during Event 1 the boat placed in fourth with a time of 10:23.19 behind UMass, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

During the final day of the Cup, Florida Tech took place in five events. Starting with the Varsity Pair, the Panthers finished at 10:03.67, which left them behind conference opponent Nova Southeastern, UMass, Lafayette and Loyola.
