Nearly 15-Foot Great White Shark

Brevard County’s favorite shark is lurking near the coast after OCEARCH received a ping that ‘Katharine’ was located around 50 miles off Florida’s Space Coast.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County’s favorite shark is lurking near the coast after OCEARCH received a ping that ‘Katharine’ was located around 50 miles off Florida’s Space Coast.

Her last ping came in at 7:21 p.m. ET on Wednesday. (As seen in the graph above)

Since being tagged in 2013, she has swam over 30,000 miles.

Katharine, who was tagged off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was named by Cat Products fans in honor of Katharine Lee Bates, a Cape Cod native and songwriter – best known for her poem and song “America The Beautiful”, which has been called “an expression of patriotism at its finest.”
