BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College has been ranked the top community college in Florida in a new study by Schools.com.

It cited Eastern Florida for what it called “its commitment to affordability and enrichment opportunities” in the 28-member Florida College System.

The evaluation said:

“EFSC ranks in the top three for affordability of tuition, fees, books and supplies. It also came in the top three for graduation rate and in the top 10 for its transfer rate to the State University System of Florida (SUSF). EFSC also offers credit for life experience and on-site child care, both of which can be a big help for busy students.

“The perks don’t stop there, however: Cultural centers like its 2,000-seat Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts and the Astronaut Memorial Planetarium and Observatory – home to one of the largest public-access telescopes in the state – open minds and create meaningful learning experiences community-wide.”

The ranking is the latest to show that Eastern Florida is among the best colleges among 1,200 similarly sized institutions of higher education in the nation.

Last year, Community College Week Magazine also gave EFSC high grades in an analysis of U.S. Department of Education data.

Its national study showed the college ranked:

  • 36th in awarding Associate Degrees in all disciplines.
  • 47th in awarding One-Year Certificates in all disciplines.
  • 14th in awarding Associate Degrees in Liberal Arts, General Studies, Sciences and Humanities.
  • 28th in awarding Associate Degrees in Science Technologies and Technicians.

Students can tailor studies to meet their needs with campuses in Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay and online.
