BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Recently I had the great privilege of joining Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe and participating in the “Breakfast with the Chief” event supporting the non-profit Cocoa Community First.

Established in 2011 by Cocoa police officers looking for ways to fund proactive community programs, CCF now works with hundreds of at risk youth through the Cocoa Police Athletic League and local area schools.

It also funds the annual “Shop With A Cop” program, “Cops and Kids” summer camp and the Christmas Holiday Toy Drive.

This annual event also recognizes local community partners who support the CCF through their generous donations and volunteer hours.

As a result, Cocoa area youth have the opportunity to interact with solid role models, develop self-esteem and find a path toward success, a proven formula for reducing juvenile crime.
