Brevard County Grand Jury Indicts Man For First-Degree Premeditated Murder Of His Roommate

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Grand Jury issued an indictment today charging 58-year-old Roger E. Goodrich with one count of first degree premeditated murder for the beating death of his 56-year-old roommate Michael Barlow that took place in March at 301 Palmetto Ave in Melbourne.

On March 22 Melbourne Police were called to the home and determined that some days earlier, Goodrich had struck Barlow repeatedly with a large wooden elephant resulting in his death.

Goodrich was later arrested and is being held on no bond at the Brevard County Jail.

The grand jury heard testimony from Melbourne Investigators and the Brevard County Medical Examiner before returning with the indictment.

No trial date has been set and Goodrich’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 3 at 8 a.m.
