BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Sanctuary Island, a south Brevard County-based charity, which specializes in helping children in need, donated $1,000 to Crosswinds Youth Services from their recent golf tournament held at The Savannas on Merritt Island last Saturday.

In addition to helping runaways, the Crosswinds shelter houses children removed from abusive home environments by the Florida Department of Children and Families, and youths having difficulties at home and needing a cooling-off period while counseling resolves family issues.

Sanctuary Island provides a venue to enhance the health, literacy, life experience and self-esteem of wounded warriors, other disabled and children facing adversity.

“We are so grateful to all of our wonderful sponsors and players who made our Sanctuary Island golf tournament such a great success again this year,” said Barbara O’Brien, president of Sanctuary Island.
