Space Coast Credit Union CEO Douglas Samuels Died Unexpectedly Friday at Age 57

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Douglas Samuels, president and chief executive officer of Space Coast Credit Union based in Melbourne, Florida died suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday at the age of 57.

Samuels originally joined SCCU in 1991 as the Vice President of Information Systems, and has served as the credit union’s president and CEO since 1997.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Doug Samuels,” said Dale Neubert, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Space Coast Credit Union.

“He was first and foremost a generous, selfless individual dedicated to his family, as well as an inspiring mission-focused leader, who served the credit union, its employees, and its membership with vision and commitment. He will be greatly missed and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family.”

In response to Samuel’s sudden passing, Timothy M. Antonition, executive vice president, chief operations officer was appointed as acting CEO. Further announcements will be forthcoming.
