Cocoa traffic homicide investigators are currently investigating a fatal crash involving a pickup truck that struck a pedestrian in the area of Industry Rd. near SR 524.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa traffic homicide investigators are currently investigating a fatal crash involving a pickup truck that struck a pedestrian in the area of Industry Rd. near SR 524.

According to police, the crash happened just before noon on Thursday when patrol officers arrived and located an elderly man around 60-years-old lying in the roadway.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

Police say the driver of the pickup truck is cooperating with investigators.

According to witnesses the elderly man was trying to “dart” across the street when he was hit.

Another witness described seeing him prior to the crash “stumbling” in the roadway, according to Cocoa Police.
