BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Fire Rescue will host the Second Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on September 9 at the Cocoa High School Stadium.

Firefighters will join police officers and citizens to pay tribute to the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 by climbing the full length of stairs 11 times.

This equals the 110 floors of the World Trade Center.

“Last year’s event was a great success and we are planning a bigger and better event this year,” said Firefighter Allen Clark who is coordinating the event.

“It’s our way of remembering and honoring those who died and symbolically finishing the journey.”

Firefighters paid tribute to the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 by climbing the full length of stairs 11 times.
Police officers and citizens also will make the climb, as they did last year to pay tribute to the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 by climbing the full length of stairs 11 times.

Money raised from t-shirt sales, and food and drink sales at the event will benefit Cocoa Community First Police Athletic League programs and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

T-shirts can be purchased by calling or visiting Fire Station 1, located at 114 1st Street in Cocoa.
