ABOVE VIDEO: Cocoa Police have released body cam footage of an incident that led police to tasing and arresting a suspect that hit a Cocoa Police officer while in his vehicle Saturday during a police pursuit.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police have released body cam footage of an incident that led police to tasing and arresting a suspect that  hit a Cocoa Police officer while in his vehicle Saturday during a police pursuit.

According to the report, police arrested 20-year-old Arthur Egendoerfer from Merritt Island.

No injuries were inflicted on the officer or the suspect, according to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department.

However, authorities say the police cruiser that was struck had some damage.

According to the officer, Egendoerfer was speeding at 70 mph, in a clearly marked 40 mph zone, drove through a red light and didn’t have his lights on.

As the officer began pursuing the vehicle, the suspect was yelling at the police officer from his window and continued north on Grissom Pkwy.

Police say the suspect then sped forward and continued to ignore the officer’s emergency lights.

After few turns on some streets, Egendoerfer turned on to Citrus Blvd. and waited for the officer to turn on to the street then proceeded  to run into the police cruiser, according to arresting officer.

At the end of the chase, the suspect exited the vehicle near Cangro St., screaming at the officer, but was later tased after trying to get back in his vehicle to flee police again, according to authorities.

The suspect has been charged Fleeing & Eluding Police Officer, Flee W/Disregard of Safety to Persons/Prop, Agg Assault LEO Firefighter EMT, Criminal Mischief >$1000 and Resist Officer without violence

Egendoerfer’s bond has been set at $42,500.
