Florida Highway Patrol has announced the passenger critically injured in a early Friday morning head-on car collision near Malabar Road and Weber Road, has died over the weekend.

The victim is identified as 23-year-old Zoe Barbee from Orlando. This is the second person to die as a result of this deadly crash.

Ariel Arriera, 28, of Melbourne, died at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.

The only survivor of the crash was one of the drivers who is identified as 21-year-old Tanasia Shelton from Orlando.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly two-car head-on collision early Friday morning that has killed a young man and critically injured a young woman.

The deceased victim is identified as 28-year-old Ariel Arriera from Melbourne.

Authorities were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m. near Malabar Road and Weber Road.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of the 2011 Jeep was traveling westbound on Malabar Road, and for an unknown reason, the driver of the Jeep traveled into the eastbound lanes of Malabar Road and struck head-on with Arriera’s 2001 Honda.

The result of the crash killed Arriera at the scene after a fire engulfed both vehicles.

The driver of the Jeep is identified as 21-year-old Tanasia Shelton from Orlando, she suffered serious injuries and was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

A passenger inside the Jeep was identified as a 23-year-old woman from Orlando, the woman is listed in critical condition and was transported Orlando Regional Medical Center. Her identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to FHP.
