COCOA POLICE: Ronald Lee Shaver, 79, Drowns In Backyard Swimming Pool at 1905 Cox Road

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — Ronald Lee Shaver, 79, drowned in a backyard swimming pool on Wednesday afternoon, according to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez.

Shaver was found by a family friend just after 2 p.m.

“It is believed he may have been in the water for several hours before he was found,” said Martinez in a release.

“At 2:14 p.m. Wednesday patrol officers and paramedics responded to 1905 Cox Road for reports of a man found floating in the backyard pool. When rescuers arrived they determined the man was deceased.”

Crime scene investigators and detectives responded in order to investigate the circumstances that led to the drowning.

According to Martinez, there is no indication of foul play and the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to verify the cause of death.
