BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police Explorer Chief Celestial McBride was elected as the Youth President and was also named the 2017 Explorer of the Year for the Florida Association of Police Explorers.

The honor was presented to Chief McBride during the 2017 Florida Association of Police Explorers State Conference in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The Titusville Police Explorer Team competed against 300 Explorers from around the state in a scenario-based competition in areas such as Crime Scene, Traffic Stop, In Progress Crime, Search and Arrest, Active Shooter, Crisis Intervention and Physical Agility.

“Chief McBride is an exceptionally bright and hard-working young lady,” said Titusville Police Explorer Program Coordinator, Detective Jessica Cabrera.

“She was extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award,” said Cabrera.

The Explorer Post is a youth organization for those 13 to 21-years old. In addition to training for state conference and competition, Explorers also assist their local community through community service projects, security details and crime prevention efforts.
