One Police Officer Dead, One Gravely Wounded After Shooting Friday Night

KISSIMEE, FLORIDA – Kissimee Police Officer Matthew Baxter is dead and Sgt. Sam Howard was seriously wounded after a shooting on Friday.
The officers responding to a report of a suspicious person in the vicinity of Palmway and Cypress in Kissimmee at 9:27 p.m.
At 9:32 p.m. dispatch received calls that Officer Baxter and Sgt. Howard were shot.
“It looked like they were surprised,” said Kissimmee Police Chief Jeff O’Dell.
According to police, three suspects are in custody, and a manhunt is underway for at least one suspect.
Officer Matthew Baxter, was a three-year veteran of the police force and a father of three.
According to Chief O’Dell, Howard, a 10-year veteran of the department, Sgt. Howard is in grave condition and is being treated at the Osceola Regional Medical Center since 10 p.m.
