Richard Seborowski of Merritt Island Dies In Crash That Splits Car In Half, Sets House Ablaze

VICTIM DIED AT Holmes Regional Medical Center
BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Richard Seborowski, 36, of Merritt Island, was killed Tuesday night at 11:55 p.m. in a crash at the intersection of Newfound Harbour Drive and Keokuk Lane, that also set a house ablaze.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Seborowski was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Newfound Harbour Drive, and while approaching the intersection of Keokuk Lane, drove right of center and onto the unpaved east shoulder, striking a power pole.
Power lines and the transformer fell due to the impact causing a power outage in the area.
Seborowski’s 2017 vehicle then rotated clockwise striking a tree and split into two halves. The rear half struck a stop sign and came to final rest in the yard of a home at 480 Newfound Harbour Drive.
The residence then caught on fire and was extinguished by Brevard County Fire Rescue. No injuries were reported inside the home.
The front half came to final rest on the eastbound travel lane of Keokuk Drive facing south.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was ejected. It is not known if the victim was wearing a seatbelt.
Seborowski was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne via helicopter and succumbed to his injuries Wednesday morning.
This crash remains under investigation.
