BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Join the Friday Night Locker Room team of Orville Susong and Steve Wilson as they bring you live audio play-by-play of the Space Coast Vipers vs. John Carroll Rams on Space Coast Daily, starting at 7 p.m.

Susong and Wilson kickoff the 2017 season with their pregame show at 6:30 p.m.

The Vipers are led by head coach Jake Owens, who enters his fifth season at Space Coast. The Vipers are coming off a rough 2016 season finishing with a mark of 2-8.

Owens is 21-21 during his tenure at Space Coast, as he looks to guide his team back to the post season through the tough all Brevard County Class 5A District 14.

Keep your eye on the athletic senior, S.I. Washington, who plays several key roles for Owens’ Vipers.

During a recent interview on the 2017 FNLR Coach’s Show from Beef O’ Brady’s, Owens said he believes his team’s biggest strength is on his offensive line, where he has many returning players.

Some of the returning up front muscle include players, Diego Cruz (captain), Chris McCombs, Corey Pepe, Chris Saporito and Kyle Davis., all seniors.

At quarterback, the Vipers will rely on senior signal caller Andrew Morrissey. While Space Coast is deep with skill position players, they are young.

The Rams are led by head coach Chris Hutchings, who enters his second year at John Carroll. Last season the Rams finished 5-6 and play in Class 5A District 15.

With the loss of a few key players, Coach Jake Owens will be counting on some of his younger players to step up and contribute.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

FNLR Steve Wilson & Orville Susong: With the loss of a few key players, Coach Jake Owens will be counting on some of his younger players to step up and contribute.  FNLR believes they will!

ALAN Z: The FHSAA’s liberal player movement rules have severely hurt the Vipers this offseason. Head coach Jake Owens team lost five key players, including his QB and top wideout. With that said, Owens is the type of coach that will rally his team and have them ready to play. Getting back to basics and techniques is going to be Owens’ approach and he will rely heavily on players like S.I Washington to lead the Vipers back.
