Bob Freeman’s Daily Surf Report For September 21 In Brevard County

Thursday: Jose background swell will continue to send waves our way again today and Friday in the waist- to chest-high range.
This morning’s waves are running in the thigh- to waist-high range near Cocoa Beach pier with semi-bumpy conditions. Much bigger waves in the chest-high range can be found from PAFB southward.
Watch for Maria’s head-high groundswell to arrive Saturday.
Cocoa Beach ocean temperatures now average 80 degrees.

Bob Freeman has been surfing Brevard’s waves since 1966. He was also the first to surf several of North Carolina’s remote islands in the mid ’60s and travels frequently to surf in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Mexico and Hawaii. He provided his first surf reporting and weekend forecasts in 1968 live on WKKO radio from the RonJon Surf Shop on Cocoa Beach Pier. He was the 1968 Florida Men’s Surfing Champion and is the current Florida Legend’s Surfing Champion. He has gathered over 300 amateur 1st place awards in both shortboard and longboard divisions. He is a 2014 Inductee into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame.
