Eastern Florida State College Volleyball Team Picks Up First Conference Win

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College volleyball team picked up its first Mid-Florida Conference victory Tuesday night, defeating Lake Sumter on the road.

The Titans, who are in their first season in the id-Florida Conference, improved to 9-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference with the five-set win.

Eastern Florida State College led for most of the first set, picking up the 25-19 win but Lake Sumter edged the Titans in a tight second set 25-22 to knot things up 1-1.

The Titans came out strong and grabbed an 8-3 lead on their way to a 25-12 win in the third set but once again Lake Sumter tied things up, scoring the final four points for the 25-21 win to send the match to a fifth set.

The fifth set was all Titans as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead and posted the 15-10 win to lock u that first conference win.

The Titans will host No. 14 Daytona State College in a Mid-Florida Conference match Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Titan Field House. Admission is free.
