Florida Tech Athletics Cancels Home Events Set This Weekend, Prepares for Hurricane Irma

Classes have been canceled for Friday

Due to the impending effects of Hurricane Irma on the Space Coast area, Florida Tech has canceled all home athletic events taking place this weekend.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Due to the impending effects of Hurricane Irma on the Space Coast area, Florida Tech has canceled all home athletic events taking place this weekend.

Classes have been canceled for Friday, Sept. 8, through Monday, Sept. 11, to allow staff and students time to prepare.

Road games that will be played as scheduled include the football game against McNeese State, men’s soccer games against the University of Alabama Huntsville and Auburn Montgomery and women’s soccer games against Young Harris and North Georgia.

Athletic events that are canceled include:

Friday, Sept. 8:
Volleyball at Saint Anselm Tournament – Day 1

Saturday, Sept. 9:
Volleyball at Saint Anselm Tournament – Day 2
Florida Tech Cross Country Invitational at Wickham Park

Monday, Sept. 11:
Women’s Golf at Mid-Pines Invitational – Day 1 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Tuesday, Sept. 12:
Women’s Golf at Mid-Pines Invitational – Day 2 in Pinehurst, N.C.

Updates regarding rescheduling of some of the events, if possible, will be announced at a later date.
