BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center has upgraded Hurricane Irma to a Category 3 hurricane on Sunday after the latest report shows the max sustained winds are reaching 115 mph.

Irma continues to move to west-northwest at 14 mph.

NHC expects Irma to strengthen more during the next 48 hours.

According to NHC, Leeward Islands should monitor the progress of Irma.
