Palm Bay 14 (3-0-1) @ Merritt Island 7 (3-2)
Palm Bay Pirates defeated the Merritt Island Mustangs 14-7 at the O-Dome in Merritt Island Friday night.
The Pirates defense played lights out after returning two turnovers for touchdowns on the evening.
The first turnover happened when Merritt Island QB Michael Moss attempted to pitch the ball to his running back on a option play, only to have the ball snatched out of the air by QB/DB Ken McKay and returned it 95 yards for the first score of the game.
Palm Bay’s defense wasn’t finished when returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown to go up 14-0 in the third quarter.
However, Merritt Island didn’t go away quietly when the Mustangs used a fumblerooski trick play to score a touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final score of the game.
Palm Bay is scheduled to take on Viera next week. (October 6)
Merritt Island is scheduled to take on Titusville October 13.
