UPDATE: Merritt Island’s Mathers Bridge Reopens After Hurricane Irma Lockdown

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Mathers Bridge in Merritt Island was reopened to boating traffic Tuesday, Sept. 12, after being temporarily locked down since Saturday to in vehicle-traffic only mode through Hurricane Irma.

The lock down was to protect the bridge from severe damage as part of the County’s preparations for the arrival of severe weather conditions expected from Hurricane Irma.
