Sandbags Available for City of Melbourne Residents Beginning Thursday, September 7

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – City of Melbourne has announced that sandbags will be available for Melbourne residents Sept. 7-8 at Club 52/Greyhound park.
Up to 10 filled sandbags per vehicle will be provided to those with proof that they reside within the City limits of Melbourne.

Other Locations for Sandbags
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will distribute sandbags at no cost to residents starting Wednesday at four locations throughout Brevard County. Each vehicle can obtain up to 10 free sandbags.
The four locations will be open for distribution from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 6. Distribution will continue during those same hours on Sept. 7, Sept. 8 and Sept. 9, or until supplies are gone.

Most home improvement also stores carry sandbags. You can purchase them and keep them in your hurricane supply kit and then fill them with any kind of sand or dirt available on your property. Home improvement stores often also sell fill dirt as well.
