The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Tornado Warning for Eastern Indian River County in east central Florida and Southeastern Brevard County until 2 p.m. (NWS image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a Tornado Warning for Eastern Indian River County in east central Florida and Southeastern Brevard County until 2 p.m.

At 1:26 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located just offshore South Beach, or near Vero Beach, moving northwest at 50 mph.

HAZARD: Tornado.

SOURCE: Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT: Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near Vero Beach and Gifford around 1:30 p.m. Sebastian, Indian River Shores and Wabasso around 1:40 p.m. Sebastian Inlet, Roseland and Barefoot Bay around 1:50 p.m., Malabar and Grant-Valkaria around 2p.m.
