Brevard Sheriff’s Agents Investigating Shooting Incident at Residence In Unincorporated Cocoa

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Sunday morning in the area of South Ridgewood Drive in unincorporated Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Sunday morning in the area of South Ridgewood Drive in unincorporated Cocoa.

According to Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Tod Goodyear, 
Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 10:20 a.m. after a call was received stating that a person had been accidentally shot.

“Deputies arrived to find the victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound,” said Goodyear.

“The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene agents also responded to the scene and are presently conducting the investigation.”

Preliminary findings indicate a family member was showing another family member a firearm that had recently been purchased. The firearm discharged, critically wounding the victim.

“Investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and collect evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Goodyear.
