SAVANNAH, GEORGIA — On a rainy Friday, Florida Tech wrapped up the first Day of the SCAD Invitational. Although many of the matches were postponed due to inclement weather, the Panthers notched four wins during the first outing of the tournament.

In the Women’s doubles, the pair of Alahna Reto and Kayla Hergott tallied the first Crimson and Gray win, defeating the SCAD duo Albuquerque/Katzarkov, 8-6. The combo Erin Egoroff/Mariana Castaneiras made it two, as they bested Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College pair Morel/Lirzin, 8-5.

The following match saw two Panthers tandems competing against each other, with Paloma Vela and Maria Chun battling Dina Dragoljic and Caroline Walter. The whole-Panthers match saw Vela and Chun defeating their fellow teammates, 8-2.

As the pairs of Chun/Vela and Dragoljic/Walter were getting set to square up against their SCAD rivals, the rain forced both teams to suspend the matches.

The hostile weather restrained also the Men’s team from action, as one of the scheduled Panthers men’s doubles match was suspended.
