UPDATE: Second Person Dies From Vehicle Crash On I-95 Friday Morning

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly single car crash Friday morning along I-95, mile marker 196, near Rockledge.

**UPDATE** BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A second person has died in a single car crash along I-95 near Rockledge Friday morning.

Authorities say the driver, 39-year-old Gavin Stephenson, has died as a result of his injuries on Friday. The news comes as 42-year-old Ingrid Thompson also died in the wreckage after the vehicle lost control for an unknown reason and flipped into a water-filled ditch.

Rescue units had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free two of the three individuals trapped in the car.

23-year-old Raymond Thompson is the only surviving person in the crash, who sustained only minor injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and everyone inside the vehicle was wearing their seat belts, according to FHP.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to a deadly single car crash Friday morning along I-95, mile marker 196, near Rockledge.

The crash killed 42-year-old Ingrid Thompson from Palm Bay and critically wounded the 29-year-old driver whose identity has not been released, at this time.

A 23-year-old passenger was also in the vehicle, but sustained only minor injuries.

Investigators say for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle at around 8 a.m. and overturned it into a water filled ditch.

Two of the passengers were trapped in the upside down vehicle and had to have the Jaws of Life called in to pull the people out of the car.

Once freed, the passengers were transported to area hospitals, where Ingrid Thompson later died.

Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
