Highest Ever In-Season Ranking For UCF

HIGHLIGHTS: UCF Football 73, Austin Peay 33

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (UCF Knights) – When this week’s Amway Coaches Poll was announced, it made history for the UCF football team. Ranked 14th in the nation, it marks the highest in-season ranking for the Knights ever.

At 7-0 for the first time in program history, following Saturday’s 77-33 win over Austin Peay, the Knights also moved up three spots in the Associated Press Top-25 Poll to 15th.

In 2013, when UCF went 12-1 and won the Fiesta Bowl, the Knights finished the season 10th in the AP Poll and 12th in the Coaches Poll, but that was after the season had ended. Going into the Fiesta Bowl, UCF was ranked 15th in both polls and had not been higher than that at any point during the season.

This is the fifth straight week that the Knights have found themselves in the Top 25, and this season’s appearance in the polls is the first since said 2013 campaign.

UCF is ranked in the Top 10 in the nation in 15 different statistical categories leads all of FBS in scoring offense, averaging 51.0 points per game. There are just five undefeated teams remaining (Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, Miami) and UCF is the only one to have won all of its games by double figures.

Memphis came in at 21st and 22nd in the polls, while USF fell to 23rd and receiving votes. Navy is also receiving votes in the Coaches Poll.
