Cocoa Police are searching for a male suspect and a female victim (above image) who were involved in a shooting of a 26-year-old man Tuesday night outside a Village Green Apartment on 1717 Dixon Blvd.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police are searching for a male suspect and a female victim who were involved in a shooting of a 26-year-old man Tuesday night outside a Village Green Apartment on 1717 Dixon Blvd.

According to Yvonne Martinez of the Cocoa Police Department, the 26-year-old man who was shot is in stable condition and his identity is not being released at this time.

Police say the victim tried to intervene during a physical fight between a man and a woman. Witnesses say the couple got into a verbal altercation which escalated to the man striking the woman.

The 26-year-old man jumped in to help the woman who was just struck and was shot by the suspect when he intervened.

Police say the suspect and woman fled the scene after the shooting.

Cocoa Police describe the suspect as a black male, with an age somewhere in his 30s and was driving a silver 4-door vehicle.

Detectives are attempting to identify the female victim in the fight in order to interview her about the incident and obtained a video with images of the woman.
