BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Things just didn’t bounce right for the Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team Friday night, losing in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament semifinals.

The Titans missed on chance after chance and Tyler Junior College came out aggressive, scoring five minutes into the contest and added a second in the first half, claiming the 4-0 win and advancing to the championship game.

“It wasn’t our night,” Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer coach Jeff Carr said. “I think the effort was there but we knew it wasn’t going to be our night when we missed the PK. They got on top of us quick and I think we were in shock a bit. We never recovered.”

Region 8 Player of the Year Katie Lockwood hit a nice shot on the penalty kick in the second half, but Tyler Junior College goalkeeper Andrea Neves made a diving save to keep the Titans off the scoreboard. It was one of six saves for Neves.

It was the only time this season the Titans had failed to score in a game and the four goals were the most they had given up.

“Hats off to them, they are playing for a national championship and we are going, what if,” Carr said.

Eastern Florida State College finished the season 13-3 and made the national tournament semifinals for the fourth time and have been in the national tournament the past six seasons.
