Florida Tech Panther Rowers Reach Podium in Head of The South Regatta to End Fall Season

FIT posted two golds, two silvers and one bronze

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA – Participating in the 21st annual Head of the South, Florida Tech ended the regatta posting two golds, two silvers and one bronze.

In the Men’s Championship 4+, the crew of coxswain Zilvinas Visockas brought FIT its first gold, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:52.6. Arriving one minute after, the shell of coxswain Ljubo Gavric took the second place with a time of 17:13.2.

Also making the podium, Jacob Huffman’s boat took the bronze after crossing the 5000-meter mark at 17:25.7. A little less than two seconds behind Hoffman’s shell, coxswain Matas Lukosevicius led its boat to a fourth finish with a time of 17:27.9.

Ending the race in the fifth spot, Dziugas Nienius’s shell reached the finish line with a time of 17:54.5.

Within the Men’s Championship 8+, the boat of coxswain Jamie Rus Alba placed first with a race-best 15:15.3. Crossing the line 26 seconds later, Huffman’s crew notched another silver for FIT with a time of 15:41.1.

With Saturday’s victories, the Panthers end their fall season and look forward to competing in the spring.
