BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – After a historic victory last week against the Cocoa Tigers in a thrilling double overtime win 20-17, the Rockledge Raiders get ready to take on a familiar district foe Palm Bay.
In a rematch of a mid-October game that featured Rockledge Raiders dismantling the Palm Bay Pirates 42-6 on their home field, the Palm Bay Pirates have the opportunity spoil Rockledge’s remarkable turnaround season tonight in Rockledge.
Palm Bay Pirates enter tonight riding a three-game winning streak after their loss to Rockledge last month. Last week, the Pirates destroyed Treasure Coast on the road 42-10.
Since that embarrassing loss to Rockledge, the Pirates have outscored their last three opponents 120-37.
Should Palm Bay win, they would play the winner of Jones vs Cardinal Gibbons matchup on the road.
The Rockledge Raiders had a tough start to the season after starting with 1-3 record. Since their loss to Clearwater Central Catholic, the Raiders have found their stride with All-Purpose Back Jashaun Corbin taking snaps behind center. The Raiders have since won five-straight games and outscoring their opponents 203-44 in those five games.
After handing Cocoa their first loss in Brevard County since 2008, the Raiders are confident and playing stellar defense, led by speedy linebacker Ladarius Tennison.
Should Rockledge win, they would play host to the winner of the Jones vs Cardinal Gibbons game next week.
Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong, Steve Wilson and Sam Martello will provide media coverage of tonight’s game.
Gaither @ Viera
The Viera Hawks host the Gaither Cowboys tonight in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs.
With their best start in school history, Viera’s only loss came to the Cocoa Tigers in double-overtime 24-17. Ever since that late September night, the Hawks have rebounded with a vengeance by blowing out their last five opponents by at least 29 points a game.
Should Viera win, they would host the winner of the Plant vs East River game.
In their first season under head coach Kirk Karsen, Gaither Cowboys enter tonight as winners in six of their last seven games. However, the Cowboys lost last week in blowout fashion at the hands of Tamp Bay Tech 42-21.
Space Coast Daily’s Alan Zlotorzynski will provide play-by-ply coverage on Space Coast Daily TV. Kickoff set for 7 p.m.
