Titusville Police K-9 ‘Jack’ Credited For Helping Save, Locate Distraught Woman

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Local K-9 officer ‘Jack’ is getting high praise on Wednesday for helping track down a distraught woman.

A Titusville Police K-9 Unit tracked down a local woman after family members reported her missing and said she was likely going to harm herself.

Titusville received word around 3 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 22), that a local woman had left on foot in the Capron Rd. area and reportedly armed with a weapon.

Police say the family members had great concern for her well-being based on the statements she had made.

According to Amy Matthews of Titusville Police Department, police quickly established a perimeter around the area within minutes where the woman was last seen.

After the police dog tracked a scent for approximately a half-mile, K9 Officer John Cantalupo and K-9 dog “Jack” found the woman hidden from view in thick grass and brush in a remote area at approximately 3:15 p.m..

Police say the woman sustained no known injuries and was transported to a local hospital for help.
