ABOVE VIDEO: What started as a small family gathering in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Surfing Santas has grown into an international viral sensation. The 9th annual “Surfing Santa” event in Cocoa Beach is set for Sunday, December 24 at 8 a.m. Last year, there were more than 600 Surfing Santas and other Christmas characters, and this year the event is expecting an even greater turnout.
CHRISTMAS WEEKEND SURF REPORT
Friday: Waves this Friday morning are running in the knee- to thigh-high range with weak, semi-clean lines early from a northwesterly breeze. Late morning high tide will keep waves from breaking at many surf spots.
Saturday: Wave heights will remain in the knee- to thigh-high range with semi-bumpy lines from a summer-like southeasterly breeze.
Christmas Eve: I believe surf will continue in the knee- to thigh-high range. Southwesterly breezes from an approaching cold front will produce semi-clean lines.
Cocoa Beach ocean temperatures now average 68 degrees.
