BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) Team recently competed in the Florida SWAT Association’s 35th annual SWAT Roundup Competition.

This year’s participants were Lt. Brad Thomas, Cpl. Zach Brown, Agt. Rick Clements, Agt. Todd Holland, Agt. Chris Neel, Agt. Chase Goff, FTO Keaton Mauldin and FTO Paul Hebb.

As a direct result of their efforts, I am proud to announce, they finished the grueling competition #10 out of 54 teams. This is a remarkable accomplishment as this level of competition among law enforcement is not matched anywhere else around the world.

This is far more than just a training event and pulse-pounding competition.

Ultimately, it is an opportunity for operators across the globe to come together as one to learn from each other and add some fierce competition to the mix. Teams traveled this year to Central Florida to compete from around the world. The close knit brotherhood that is shared among teammates extends to the fellow operators as they train, compete and cheer each other on.

The competition consisted of five specialized events which are a large scale training opportunity. These events are geared for simulation of real life scenarios and are intended to challenge the team both mentally and physically as a unit. The structure emphasizes weapon expertise and physical fitness. This is truly a one-of-a-kind competition.

Your competition team of SWAT Operators are selected from the our SWAT Team of already highly trained and specialized Deputy Sheriffs who choose to engage in a highly competitive tryout for the distinction of being a SWAT Team member.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team has been in operation since 1977.

This team, made up of highly trained and well-equipped professionals, prevents situations from escalating and resolves problems as quickly and safely as possible.

This year’s participants were Lt. Brad Thomas, Cpl. Zach Brown, Agt. Rick Clements, Agt. Todd Holland, Agt. Chris Neel, Agt. Chase Goff, FTO Keaton Mauldin and FTO Paul Hebb.
