BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — Television personality, former WWE wrestler and Brevard County native, Chris Hollyfield will spoke to the eighth grade students at Central Middle School Tuesday morning about the effects of bullying.
Hollyfield has dwarfism, a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4’10” or shorter, among both men and women, although in some cases a person with a dwarfing condition may be slightly taller than that.
Despite this obstacle, Hollyfield was a regular on WWE’s Smack Down wrestling show as the character “Little Boogeyman.” Chris is now a motivational speaker, actor, and business owner here in Brevard County.
In addition, he has been on ESPN, 60 minutes, Dateline NBC, and Primetime Live.
Chris is also the founder of the “Got Respect Tour”, formerly the 3D T.E.A.M. which works with kids encouraging them to do their best at everything they do.
Chris is a little person with a huge heart who gives back to his community and definitely knows how bullying can affect everyone.
Standing just 4-foot-4, Hollyfield is an unprecedented motivational speaker. He says he is an “undersized man in an oversized world.” Chris maximizes his visual difference to help students recognize, and avoid, teasing and bullying among their peers.
During his anti-bullying presentation at Central Middle on Tuesday, Chris spoke about having respect for others, yourself and the importance of self-determination.
Chris relates these topics back to his personal struggles and encouraged students, that despite the physical, mental and emotional challenges they may face, anything is possible with a positive perspective.
Aside from touring the country as a motivational speaker, Chris is also a part of a new business called Vibrant You located in Indialantic Beach. Vibrant You offers alternative ways to get well and feel better, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) using a pressurized chamber.
Chris travels many miles to get his anti-bullying message out to schools. Hollyfield spent 23 of the 31 days in October, National Anti-Bullying Month, on the road throughout the mid-atlantic and northeastern part of the United States, as well as parts of Texas speaking to students about how and why bullying impacts them and their futures.
Several members of the Brevard County School Board were on hand at Central Middle School to hear Hollyfield speak.
“Chris has such a positive message and it is great to see the students listen and hang on his every word,” said Board Member, Matt Susin. “What a blessing it is to have a man of Chris’ stature in the Brevard County community delivering such an important message from his heart to the perfect age group of students that need to know the impacts bullying can have.”
