BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and GameOver Task Force has arrested 35-year-old Rosa Regina Feeney for causing the death of her 10-month-old boy last month.

The investigation began during the early morning of December 6, 2017, after deputies responded to the Deangelo’s by the Sea Hotel in Melbourne Beach about a report of an unresponsive child.

When BCSO deputies arrived, they found Feeney performing CPR on her child.

BCSO deputies jumped into action to continue life saving measures on the child until paramedics arrived.  The boy was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at the hospital later that morning.

“Based upon the investigation, Feeney had been drinking the night of the incident and entered the bathtub while the child was playing on the bathroom floor,” said Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

“While taking a bath, Feeney undressed the child and placed him in the bathtub with her. Feeney fell then asleep at which time the child slipped under the water.”

Investigators say the mother woke up to find the child unresponsive in the tub and ran to a nearby room pleading for help.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that Feeney actions that night constituted as child neglect and was directly responsible for the child’s death.

Law enforcement and medical professionals say Feeney appeared to be intoxicated during their contact with her that night.
