Melbourne Police Charge Stefanie Dobson With Bludgeoning Murder of Her Mother

POLICE: suspect said she wanted her mother dead

The Melbourne Police Department Criminal Investigations Division arrested 38-year-old Stefanie Dobson on Thursday and charged her with the murder of her mother on Jan. 13.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department Criminal Investigations Division arrested 38-year-old Stefanie Dobson on Thursday and charged her with the murder of her mother on Jan. 13.

According to Melbourne Police Lt. Byron Barnes, information and evidence at the scene indicated that the two were engaged in an argument that ended in a violent confrontation resulting in the death of 58-year-old Susan Dobson.

Susan Dobson suffered a blunt force trauma to the head with what police say is likely a resin decor item.

According to police, Stefanie Dobson said she wanted her mother dead and asked a friend two times to kill her mother.

Stefanie Dobson is being held in the Brevard County Jail without bail.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Melbourne Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is asking any potential witnesses who may have relevant information on this case to contact Detective Thomas Cahalan at 321-608 – 6731.
