Eastern Florida State Looks To Claim Mid-Florida Conference Championship Saturday Afternoon

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team can wrap up the Mid-Florida Conference championship Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Titans come into Saturday’s game at Santa Fe College with a one-game lead on the College of Central Florida, who have finished the season 9-3 in the conference.

Eastern Florida State College is 9-2 heading into the matchup with the Saints, who they have beaten in both meetings this season. The team is 26-3 overall and No. 8 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and are on a six-game winning streak.

Ahmed Ali comes into the game averaging 18.7 points per game, good for fifth in Region 8 but fellow sophomore Michael Nuga comes into the game red hot, scoring at least 20 points in each of the past four games and is averaging 14.4 points per game.

Teammate Eli Abaev is second in the region in rebounding, averaging 10 per game as the Titans are the best rebounding team in Region 8, grabbing an average of 50.8 rebounds per game.

Santa Fe comes into the game 20-9 overall and 6-5 in the conference and on a two-game losing streak but are 13-2 this season at home.

The conference title would be the first Mid-Florida Conference title for the Titans and sixth straight conference championship for head coach Jeremy Shulman.
