UPDATE: Identity of Melbourne Man Killed In Three-Vehicle Crash Wednesday Released by FHP

Victim identified as Ricardo Guadelupe, 34, From Melbourne

Florida Highway Patrol responded to deadly three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Aurora Rd. and Turtle Mound Rd.

**UPDATE**BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol has released the name of the 34-year-old passenger killed in Wednesday’s crash as Ricardo Guadelupe from Melbourne. The driver of the vehicle, who Guadelupe was in the car with, 40-year-old Christopher Vasquez, remains in critical condition at  Holmes Regional.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol responded to deadly three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon that killed a 34-year-old man at the intersection of Aurora Rd. and Turtle Mound Rd.

Troopers say the crash happened around 1:30 p.m.

According to investigators, the driver of one of the vehicles, identified as 40-year-old Christopher Vasquez, was driving westbound on Aurora Rd. at high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign striking another vehicle who was driven by 72-year-old Harley Watkins from Melbourne.

The crash caused the vehicle Vasquez was driving to deflect and also strike another vehicle driven by 80-year-old David Katz from Melbourne.

The result of the crash killed Guadelupe who was in the vehicle with Vasquez and Florida Highway Patrol pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both drivers of the vehicles struck by Vasquez were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Vasquez was transported to Holmes Regional in critical condition.

Witnesses say the vehicle Vasquez was driving was being chased by another black vehicle.

The crash is still being investigated by Florida Highway Patrol and charges are pending.
