Melbourne Police, GAME OVER Task Force Arrest Attempted Homicide Suspects After Traffic Stop

Three violent suspects were taken into custody Friday about 2:15 p.m. as a result of a joint effort from the Melbourne Police Department and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office GAMEOVER Task Force. BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Three violent suspects were taken into custody Friday about 2:15 p.m. as a result of a joint effort from the Melbourne Police Department and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office GAMEOVER Task Force.

According to Melbourne Police Sgt. Brian Hart, all those arrested were charged with Attempted Murder and included Kinte Brooks, 19; Tyriq Coger, 18; and a 17-year-old male whose identity is not being released due to his age.

Sgt. Hart said the GAME OVER Task Force was actively searching for the suspects after a violent stabbing incident sent one victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at Lizzy’s Restaurant in Melbourne.

“Detectives from the Melbourne Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division were able to obtain arrest warrants for the involved suspects,” said Sgt. Hart.

“Agents with the GAME OVER Task Force observed a vehicle containing at least one suspect and conducted surveillance on the vehicle and its occupants until officers from the Melbourne Police Department could arrive to assist.

“A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle which came to a stop in the parking lot of Keiser University located at 900 S. Babcock Street. A high-risk stop was conducted on the vehicle and all five occupants were detained.”

The investigation confirmed that three of the five occupants were the suspects in the stabbing incident and were arrested on the active warrants for attempted murder.

Investigators spoke with the other two vehicle occupants and determined they were not involved in the stabbing incident and were released without any criminal charges.
