UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed In Merritt Island On SR 520 Identified By Florida Highway Patrol

A 55-year-old man was killed by a vehicle Friday night in Merritt Island along State Road 520 and Newfound Harbor Dr., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

**UPDATE**BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol has released the identity of the pedestrian killed Friday night on State Road 520 and Newfound Harbor Dr. as 55-year-old Richard Gyomber from Weaver, Alabama.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – A 55-year-old man was killed by a vehicle Friday night in Merritt Island along State Road 520 and Newfound Harbor Dr., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the driver of the vehicle has been identified as 24-year-old Vanessa Suarez from Merritt Island.

Suarez was not injured in the crash.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Suarez was traveling eastbound on SR 520 in a 2012 Nissan. The 55-year-old pedestrian attempted to cross SR 520 near the intersection of Newfound Harbor Dr. when he was struck by the vehicle. The man was taken to Cape Canaveral Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Richard Gyomber, 55, has been identified as the pedestrian killed Friday night. Gyomber was from Weaver, Alabama.

The crash remains under investigation.
