BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Detectives are asking for help to identify and locate a suspect wanted for a homicide that occurred in Cocoa late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning at the Dixie Motel, located 301 Forrest Avenue.

According to Yvonne Martinez, Cocoa Police Public Information Office, the suspect checked into the motel Tuesday around 5 p.m. with the victim, 65-year-old Terry Hilliard of Ocala.

“Hilliard reportedly was visiting the area to watch the SpaceX launch,” said Martinez. “The suspect left the area in the victim’s vehicle, a black Chevy Cruz.”

The vehicle was recovered Wednesday afternoon abandoned at a plaza at 11093 NW 138th Street in Hialeah.

The plaza is also located near the intersection of the Turnpike and U.S. Highway 27/North Okeechobee Road making it likely the suspect could have hitched a ride to another part of South Florida or Southwest Florida.
