Titusville Man Arrested For Attempted First-Degree Murder After Wednesday’s Shooting On Gilbert Street

Titusville Police arrested Dimetrious Cornell Smith

Police have identified the suspect as Dimetrious Cornell Smith who has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Police have arrested a 41-year-old Titusville man Wednesday afternoon for attempted first-degree murder in the Gilbert Street shooting that happened early Wednesday morning.

Police have identified the suspect as Dimetrious Cornell Smith.

Smith has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say the victim was shot during a dispute around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and was transported via helicopter to a nearby trauma hospital in serious condition.

The investigation has revealed a dispute between the Smith and the victim, who were known to each other, and resulted in Smith shooting the victim.

Dimetrious Cornell Smith was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held without bond.
