ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Enforcers Men’s and Woman’s Basketball Team competed Saturday in the annual “Guns and Hoses” Basketball Tournament hosted by the Orlando Magic and Harris Corporation.

Each year basketball teams from Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue agencies throughout Central Florida compete in the tournament that is held at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

The Enforcers made their way through the early rounds of competition and then defeated the Apopka Police Department in a hard-fought finals game that demonstrated just how well the Enforcers play together as a team with unselfish ball play and great sportsmanship.

As part of the annual tournament, the top two teams earned the right to play an exhibition game during the halftime show for the Orlando Magic Game that is sponsored by Harris Corporation.

Following the exhibition game, the Enforcers were presented a $5,000 check from Harris Corporation for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Charity.

In addition, the Enforcer’s Joe Growsky earned honors as the Tournament MVP and was presented the MVP Trophy as part of the halftime presentation.

Both of our Enforcers Basketball Teams are comprised of Law Enforcement Officers and Corrections Deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and local Law Enforcement agencies in Brevard County who volunteer their time to be part of our team and to work with our youth as part of our Community Outreach Program.

Please join me in thanking our woman Enforcers for playing in today’s tournament and in congratulating our men’s team for winning the Annual “Guns and Hoses” Basketball Championship.

I would also be extremely remiss if I did not thank our very own Harris Corporation and the Orlando Magic for hosting the tournament each year and for all they do to support Public Safety in Central Florida.
